This course will look at some of the major points of debate within Northern Renaissance scholarship (Northern Europe, ca. 1400-1570), beginning with the fabulous "Tres Riches Heures de Duc de Berry" and ending with Brueghel's "Children's Games". Each week will focus on one or two works of art and problems relating to historical context, authorship, techniques of production and interpretation.
