Principles of classical, molecular, and population genetics including Mendelian and cytoplasmic inheritance; DNA recombination, linkage, and mapping; structure and replication of genetic material; the control of gene expression; mutation; Hardy-Weinberg theorem; and quantitative genetics. Application of concepts through investigative laboratories. Three lectures and one three-hour laboratory per week. Required for all Biology majors. Prerequisites: BIOL 201, 202, CHEM106.
