This course explores the relationship between the United States's social welfare policies and contemporary crime control problems and practices. It includes an examination of the United States's residual welfare state, theories on social welfare development, and the Nordic model of crime prevention, which is based on the premise that crime can be reduced through social policies designed to lessen structural inequalities.
