This course is a requirement for students concentrating in art history. Designed for the advanced student, the course probes different methodological and theoretical approaches to the study and interpretation of the visual arts. Students will examine the writings of pioneers in the field, long-standing art historical methods, and the "new" art history. Thiscourse is also a research seminar. Prerequisite: permission of the instructor. Cr 3.
