Study of historical and contemporary approaches to corrections and the administration of penal institutions with emphasis on the organizational structure, function, and personnel requirements of correctional institutions and philosophy behind their operation. Special attention will be directed towards modern concepts of rehabilitation and problems associated with their implementation in penal institutions. Prerequisite(s): ENG 1113, 1213, CJ 3643 and junior standing.
