This course is a study of the theory and principles of scanning electron microscopy with special attention to sample preparation, critical point drying, sputter coating, and operation of scanning electron microscope (SEM). Laboratory exercises will enable students to become proficient in the operation of the SEM and supporting instrumentation, as well as sample preparation. Prerequisite(s): BIO 1304, 1404, 2314 and 12 hours of Biology electives. Senior standing.
