7 credits: 3 hours lecture, 4 hours shop Introduction to the principles of Ohms Law, basic electrical circuits, wiring diagrams, use of precision testing equipment, and analysis of opens, shorts, and grounds. Students are familiarized with the principles of the cranking, charging, lighting, and electrical accessories systems. Components and functions of electronic control systems, principles of electricity, component operation, circuit design, and testing procedures are taught. Lab projects include testing, diagnosis, and repair of actual vehicles. This course may be transferable toward a limited number of associate and baccalaureate degrees.
