Prerequisites: SYEN 3356. Analysis of electrostatic, magnetostatic, and dynamic fields using vector analysis. Coulomb's Law, electric field intensity, electric flux density, Gauss' Law. Energy and potential. Conductors, dielectrics, and capacitance. Poisson's and Laplace's equations. The steady magnetic fieldmagnetic forces, materials, and inductance. Time-varying fields and Maxwell'sequations. Boundary conditions. The uniform plane wave. Plane waves at boundaries and in dispersive media. Transmission lines and antenna fundamentals. Examples are taken from the field of wireless communications. Three hours lecture. Three credit hours.
