Prerequisites: SYEN 1305, PHYS 2322, corequisite MATH 2453. Statics of particles, rigid bodies, equivalent systems of forces, equilibrium, centroids and centers of gravity, analysis of structures, forces in beams and cables, friction, moments of inertia, method of virtual work, kinematics of particles, Newton?s Second Law, energy and momentum methods, systems of particles, kinematics of rigid bodies, plane motion of rigid bodies, forces and accelerations, kinetics of rigid bodies in three dimensions, mechanical vibrations. Three hours lecture. Three credit hours.
