Prerequisites: Admission to the Early Childhood Education Program and eligible for admission to Block III with a 2.65 GPA or greater. The first course in a twocourse sequence addressing assessment and early intervention screening and assessment strategies for young children with disabilities, from birth through age eight. A specific focus will be given to the fundamental principles of and strategies for assessment, the role of well-baby and early intervention providers in screening and assessment process for disabilities. Candidates will learn to identify the needs of children related to health and/or sensory impairments, the identification of abilities in the developmental domains. Dual-listed in the UALR Graduate Catalog as SPED 5313. Three credit hours.
