Prerequisite: 6 hours of upper-level art history courses or permission of instructor. An introduction to art museum operation, topics covered will include the acquisition, management, and care of works of art, exhibition planning and installation, administration functions, educational and community roles of museums, finance and fundraising. The goals of the course are to familiarize students with the day-to-day work of an art museum and to engage them incritical thinking about the broader context in which it operates. Three credit hours.
