Prerequisites: GEOL 101 or permission of instructor A survey of the physical and ecological development of planet earth as revealed through coupled evidence from rocks and fossil assemblages, interpreted in light of modern theories of plate tectonics. Emphasis will be placed on the physical and biological evolution of North America. Three lecture or laboratory hours per week, two Saturday field trips, and one weekend-long field trip during the semester.
