The visual arts of the United States including the arts of the European settlers and the first generation Americans of the Colonial Period, the great portraitists of the Revolution and the 19th century, the 19th century landscapists, the pioneer modernists of the early 20th century, and the regionalists of the 1930's Culminates with the first American style to achieve international significance, the New York School, and the resultant dominance of American art in the world today.
