This is a music survey course that introduces students to the develop-ment and uses of music from antiquity to the present. The content includes both Western and non-Western music. Upon successful completion of the course students will demonstrate through examina-tion, written, and oral presentation knowledge and understanding of music of various styles, historical periods, composers, and performers. A strong listening component is included that embraces recorded and live music. Required for Secondary Education Music Minor and BA: Music Related Area. Note: This class may also be required in other BA Related Areas. (fall/odd-numbered years)
