Upon successful completion of this course the student should be familiar with techniques of writing mathematical proofs using direct, contra-positive, contradiction, and induction methods. In addition, the student will be introduced to some fundamental ideas used throughout mathe-matics including logic, set theory, number theory, complex numbers, function theory, and group theory.
