This is a capstone course in literacy education that will provide methods and tools for continuing professional development of the teaching candidate. The student will choose a particular literacy focus and develop an action research project to be presented to others as a seminar or conference, also planned and implemented as a course requirement. The focus may be on literacy in the school or literacy in the community. Other research methods and resources will be explored, particularly in relation to scientifically-based methods of reading instruction. Highly participatory and interactive course in which students volunteer to work in either an elementary or secondary classroom. Required for the Literacy Minor. Prereq: ED 270, ED 370, ED 381, ED 382, ED 445, ED446, ED 447, and admission to TEP or verification that student is a certified teacher. Coreq: ED 461. (spring)
