An introduction to informal and formal reading and writing assessments and instructional strategies to accommodate variations in the K-8 literacy program. Students will learn how to modify instruction strategies to meet the needs of struggling readers and writers as well as those who are in need of motivation and greater reading challenges. Course requires readings, assessment projects, tutoring, and informal evaluations of literacy growth. Required for Elementary Education Major and Literacy Minor. $15 Course Fee. Prereq: For Elem Ed majors-ED 270 and ED 370. Admission to TEP or verification that student is a certified teacher. Coreq: ED 382. (fall/spring)
