A special laboratory investigation carried out under the direction of the instructor. Emphasis is on scientific research and report writing. Must be taken in sequence. Students are expected to spend at least ten hours per week on their research project(s). Prerequisites: CHEM 3220, 3221 or 3320, 3321. Corequisites: CHEM 4910, 4920. CHEM 4505 offered only in fall, 4506 only in spring.
