An introduction to critical reasoning skills that is narrowly focused on the specific needs of undergraduate prelaw students, and an analysis of original material in the legal field. Topics covered include basics of recognizing arguments, informal methods and techniques for evaluating arguments, techniques for writing argumentatively, the nature of the law and fundamentals of the legal context, the distinction between descriptive and normative legal reasoning, how lawyers reasons, how judges reason, and detailed analysis of several important cases.
