This course emphasizes the principles that govern the design and implementation of contemporary programming languages. Topics include language syntax; lexical properties, BNF, and parsing examples; compilers, interpreters, and direct execution; language representations; data structures, control structures, binding, the run-time environment, and formal semantic models; language styles: procedural, functional, object-oriented, and logic programming.
