An investigation of contemporary advertising as a form of global mass persuasion. The course examines what advertising is as a communication form, its impact on society, how it is shaped and regulated by the social context in which it occurs, and conceptual guidelines for its evaluation. Since the course assumes a critical approach, the interrelationship of advertising with social norms, constraints, and values is examined through selected case studies.
