3 hours. This is a pre-fieldwork course emphasizing practical techniques to facilitate client engagement and relationship with case managers and other support staff. Simulated experience will be provided through the use of role-play. This course also provides specific skills and knowledge in: crisis management; case management with alcohol and drugabusing consumers vs. with clients with mental disorders; dealing with clients who are dually diagnosed; and case management issues for differential diagnoses and treatment/intervention plans.
