"The image presupposes the idea and the thought. Photography is expressive when a skilled hand is unleashed on the neutral aspect of the object with the power of the lights that bite the space, dig into the depths of the volume, tear away every veil, and reveal the substance of things with strong teeth." S. Eisenstein This course will deepen the student's understanding of cinematography and introduce the student to studio lighting. In this course, students will learn how cinematography is in the service of overall directorial or creative intent, while liberated to explore its own visual language. Technical and aesthetic concerns are given equal weight.
