Attention is given to the essential role of art in the religions and cultures of the world as well as on formal and aesthetic issues. Assignments and examinations encourage students to think and write critically about art. Note: Students who have taken 11.271 History of Western Art I will not receive credit for ARTH 270 History of Art I.
