This course will examine Irish history and culture through a wide spectrum of topics, covering: mythology, folklore, literature, music, art, history, and politics. Issues of cultural identity will be discussed with special focus on literary response to social events in the course of Irish history. This course emphasizes reading, writing, and oral presentation with strong emphasis on critical evaluation and discussion of historical, social, cultural, and political issues Students will be exposed to Irish art and Irish music and theatre.
