This is an introductory course in fundamental principles of nursing, addressing man's basic needs as identified by Maslow and related to the stages of development. Health is presented as a wellness-illness continuum. The concept of Nursing is presented by introducing the nursing core components of professional behaviors, communication, assessment, clinical decision making, caring interventions, teaching and learning, collaboration, and managing care : ENG 101 or its equivalent and BIO 171 with a grade of C or better.
