An introduction to the role played by the Native American peoples in the history of the American nation from pre-Columbian times to the present. The student will examine the white images of the Indian as they evolved in our nation and the relations between white and Indian in order to understand more clearly the contemporary Indian Americans as people. Special emphasis will be given to northeast Native people, in particular the Iroquois. HIS 111 or permission of instructor. B
