This course is a guide through the concepts, principles, and techniques for designing an entire video game Students will study a variety of design technologies relevant to games including operating systems, file systems, networks, simulation engines, and multimedia design systems. Students also will study some of the underlying scientific concepts from computer science and related fields, including: simulation and modeling, graphics, artificial intelligence, real-time processing, and game theory. Design principles for developing useable and engaging games also may be covered in the course, including: software engineering, human computer interaction, thematic structure, graphic design, choreography, music and sound effects, and game aesthetics. : CSC 141.
