This course includes the study of the body's immune mechanisms and the clinical testing methods used to evaluate the immune system. The chemical properties and physiological behavior of antigens, immunoglobulins, and complement are considered in detail along with the cellular interactions necessary for proper function of the immune system. Serological diagnostic procedures in the laboratory include performance and interpretation of tests for a variety of immune disorders and infectious diseases.
