Introduction to digital design using FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays). The FPGA circuits are designed using the schematic software and the Boolean Algebra entry software ABEL. The target chips are Zilinx FPGAs and the Xilinx software is used to "place and route" the design.Designs are then tested using a special test board and Xchecker cable. PAL (Programmable Array Logic) and GAL (Genetic Array Logic) designed is also covered. Prerequisite(s): EET 223 (3,3) 4 credits Fall
