Nonprofit organizations have grown in numbers, wealth, and importance throughout the world over the past fifty years. This course provides a transnational overview of the statutory, regulatory, and tax environments in which nonprofits operate; the strategies they use in adapting to changing sources of funding and relations to government; and the role of public expectations in influencing their behavior. Readings, discussions, and written assignments are intended to help students to think critically about the challenges managers and policymakers face with the continuing growth of the nonprofit organizations domestically and internationally.
