The student will be placed into an internship in a bioscience-related laboratory, institution or company ("the facility"), typically in the secondsemester of the junior year or the first semester of the senior year. The total time requirement in the facility during one semester is 90 hours. The purpose of the internship is to enable the intern to gain experience in the application of curriculum concepts to the operations of the facility while performing useful service as a functioning member of the staff. The intern is expected to comply with all applicable regulations expected of employees of the facility, including health and safety, quality control, and environmental. The intern's supervisor in the facility will make an evaluation of the intern at the midpoint and end of the internship, which will be placed in the student's academic file. A written report on the internship experience is required of the student by the end of the Evaluation Period for the semester in which the internship is scheduled, to be submitted to the Chair of the Bioscience Program. Prerequisite(s): Junior or Senior status; recommendation by Bioscience Chair (0,6) 3 credits
