The study of the principles of quality management and its component functions (institutional and medical staff monitoring and evaluation activities, risk management, utilization review and credentialing) as applied to acute care settings and within the health record department specifically as well as within other healthcare settings generally. The study of medical staff roles and functions; hospital and medical staff committees and their roles and functions; an overview of the regulations of health care resources; and the application of supervisory management principles in the health information management area.
