This course is the study of analytic processes which explore data (especially very large data sets) for consistent patterns of systematic or relationships, along with the study of methods for preparing data for analysis and validating the results of such analysis. The course will focus on processes, techniques, and algorithms for data mining, rather than applications. Data mining phases will be studied, including: data preparation, initial exploration, model building, model validation, and deployment. Prerequisite: CSC 300 and MATH 281 or MATH 381 or Instructor Approved. 3
