3 lab hrs, 1 cr This course introduces students to basic carpentry techniques, both new construction and repairs, typically employed in maintaining multi-dwelling buildings. Students become familiar with basic carpentry tools and their usage, e.g., tools for fastening, cutting, drilling holes, layout and gauging and clamping; wood construction materials and their appropriate usage; wall and ceiling construction and repair, e.g., drywall, wood and lathe walls; installation of interior and exterior doors and lock sets; and finished carpentry.
