3 cl hrs, 3 lab hrs, 4 cr Study of the current standard local area network. Basic network concepts and the OSI model are discussed. Topics include: topology, servers, workstations, printers and other devices on the LAN, the network operating system, utilities, applications run on the network and LAN management. The network operating system Netware 5.1 is discussed: NDS, network file system, managing users and groups, security, printing, log-in scripts, operating server console. Each student will be given an account with Administrator privileges and will perform network administration tasks. Prerequisites: MST 1205/MS 205, MAT 1275/MA 275
