This course introduces students to poetry as a form of literature and art. Students look at the craft of poetry including style, language and technique, major themes, major poets and historical developments of poetry. Through formal and informal responses to poems, students recognize standard poetic forms and styles and learn to think critically about what makes an author's works meaningful.
