This course traces the roots and development of recreation and sport from the Sumerian culture to modern time. A history of individual sports, governing bodies and both the ancient and modern Olympics will be studied. The course will also analyze the political, social and economic influences of the era that influenced sports and their development. Prerequisite: BU 106.
