This is an introduction to film with particular emphasis on an understanding of the cinematic techniques employed by the filmmaker to influence, manipulate and entertain an audience. The specific problems of film will be explored including subjectivity vs. objectivity, realism vs. formalism and art vs. record. This course will include viewings of representative films. Lab fee.
