The purpose of this course is to present a framework of principles, methods, procedures, and techniques of advertising along with its historical development and cultural significance in today's society. Consideration is given to the role of advertising in the marketing structure and to its use as a marketing tool for the individual firm. Course content includes analysis of buying motives, the social forces involved in consumer behavior, measurement of the market potential, determination of proper advertising budget, media allocations, and the devices used to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. Prerequisite: BU 301.
