This course will provide an introduction to the fundamentals of news writing in which students learn to identify stories and sources, gather information, write leads, and edit for style and grammar. Students will write news stories according to professional standards in areas such as crime/court reporting, news conferences, and disaster stories. Ethical dimensions of journalism will also be explored.
