Topics are developed around observational astronomy, how astronomers understand the universe using models, astronomical a nd physical c oncepts which provide a fundamental understanding. The course surveys the solar system, our galaxy and near stars, and stellar characteristics. Lecture 4 hours. Prerequisite: At least one year of high school algebra.
