3 hours credit The objective of this course is to investigate a broad selection of up to date issues in computer security and what modern technology is used to deal with security problems. Specific subject matters to be covered in the course are: sources of security threats and suitable reactions, cryptograph ic techniques, access control mechanisms, information models, authentication mechanisms, firewalls, computer viruses, and legal and ethical issues. Students will study and analyze real world case studies in computer security. Prerequisite: Fifteen (15) semester hours in CIS and/or CS, one Telecommunications course and permission.
