3 hours credit The Southwest from the time of Spanish exploration and colonization to the 20th Century. Topics include Native American societies, the Spanish Southwest, the Southwest under the Republic of Mexico, and U.S. occupation following the Mexica n War. Topics in clude immigration, urban ization, th e federal presence, popular culture and the Sunbelt phenomenon.
