Heat and mass balances in joining, thermody-namic and kinetic justification of solidification and near interface micro-structures. Heterogeneous interfaces, adhesion, wetting. Relation between process selection, interface design, microstructure, and properties, weldabil-ity. 2 laboratories. Prerequisite: MATE 210. Materials processing course.
