A survey of the art of the Enlightenment from the time of Louis XIV through the Napoleonic Wars. Emphasis will be placed on the relationship between eighteenth century visual culture and developments in science, philosophy, and the changing political and social ideologies of the newly industrial nations of Europe and North America.
