A course designed to give the student an introductory understanding of the internal operation and organization of the modern digital computer while providing hands-on assembly language programming experience. Topics include digital logic, digital systems, machine-level representation of data, assembly-level machine organization, memory organization and architecture, interfacing and communication, architectures for networks and distributed systems. Students write programs using one or more assembly languages. PR: COSC 230.
