Prerequisite: COMS 1411; COMS 1003 or COMS 1403. Several Operating Systems (such as Unix, Microsoft, AS/400) will be examined with regard to the user's view of the system. This view includes the types of files supported, the kinds of operations that can be performed on files (from the shell and from programs), the mechanisms for starting and controlling processes (i.e. "running programs"), some basic utilityprograms that a beginning or intermediate level administrator would need to use.
