SEE SOC 490 This course offers a historical and comparative understanding of the rise, developments and challenges faced by nation-states pertaining to the development of social policy (i.e., welfare, healthcare, social security). It focuses on the historically situated struggles social groups over access to and influence over the state, as well as development of state expertise and forms of governing. Students learn quantitative and qualitative measurement techniques used to script social policy. Prerequisites: SOC 102 or PSY 201
