2 hours A study of the methods and materials for teaching physical education in the middle and high schools The course will be primarily concerned with writing objectives, selecting and organizing content and teaching materials, practicing techniques of teaching, constructing a curriculum and developing procedures for the evaluation of students and instruction. Of secondary consideration will be the discussion of the role of physical education within the total educational picture, the problems and concerns of the beginning teacher and the legal ramifications of actions within the physical education setting. Prerequisites: PE135. Junior status or consent of instructor. Must apply to teacher education or consent of education department chair.
